Re: Kombucha tea and anti botics?
Sun, October 7, 2007 - 5:36 PMI can answer that. I have been a holistic practitioner for some time as well as having taken Kombucha and anti-biotics together myself.
I used kombucha as part of a course of therapy for a patient with Vioxx poisoning, and who had heart attacks and strokes and resulting surgery and ongoing dosages of antibiotics and other drugs. There were no problems with Kombucha interaction and it helped reduce the required dosages of several drugs such as the pain killers, which of course helped speed the healing process too.
You should be fine. The antibiotic activity of Kombucha is more along the lines of competing with the bad germs, it's not a true antibiotic in any sense according to any of the documentation and studies I have seen.
Keep in mind though, the antibiotics will kill the beneficial organisms in the kombucha so you will get a reduced benefit from it.
